IP Rating and decoding them
IP is an abbreviation for "Ingress Protection." It is used to assess how well a device is protected from solid objects as well as liquids, such as dust and water. The first digit indicates how well the product is protected from solid objects, and the second indicates its resistance to water.
Any earphone that receives an IP rating must undergo special testing by a certified, independent company.
IP Rating For Solid Objects and Dust
